An evergreen such as this one can be over 500 years old, as they grow very slowly. After initial flowering, they develop branches after each flower over the years.
The Dasylirion Longissimum or more commonly known as ‘Toothless Sotol, Beargrass’ comes from the desert in Mexico. Growing up in the mountains, they almost have no roots whatsoever.
When first received they have hardly any roots and you must give them around one year to grow.
Their sensitivity to water is very high and they do not like to be watered or drowned. Of course, a good drainage system is a crucial and vital part of their care; luckily, they are very cold resistant.
The Mexican Grass Tree has a bushy habit and forms maturely. The positioning that is best suited for this tree will have partial shade and soil that is well drained.
