Olive Grove Oundle is an exciting plant centre, which specialises in supplying Palm Trees, Mediterranean Plants and Olive Trees for sale in the UK.

Olive Grove Oundle which was founded by Tim and Jacqueline Thackeray in 2009 has really taken off, starting the journey simply as a Mediterranean Nursery, their decision to develop the nursery was born from a desire to create a lifestyle business that would allow them to work, live and meet customers in a relaxed and pleasant environment.

Tim and Jackie spent some years travelling throughout Western Europe where they developed a great love and passion for Olive Trees, Exotic Palms and all things Mediterranean but on their return to England, they experienced great difficulty in sourcing similar plants for their very own patio garden.

As a nation of proud homeowners and keen gardeners, we have all seen the explosion of garden centres and nurseries over the past 25 years, many of whom carry some small lines of Mediterranean plants, but very few will be able to offer the scope, size and variety of our extensive stock. With over 1200 different shapes, species and sizes of Olive Trees we are sure that Olive Grove Oundle can now be classed as one of the largest suppliers within the UK. Over the last 6 years, Tim & Jackie travelled Europe extensively in their search for the “Finest” Olive Trees and Mediterranean Plants and now feel they have developed a range to meet their criteria. Each of the plants displayed within the Nursery have been specifically chosen and hand-selected by them, choosing each one with careful consideration for its quality, form, shape and most importantly its price.

Olive Grove Oundle has since blossomed into what you find today, with many members of staff working hard each day to provide the service that stems from Tim & Jackie, the journey goes as follows: There were two buildings already on the land when it was purchased in 2009, one was used as an office, and the other a storage place.

The Original Buildings

They developed the office into a reception/plant sales office and left the storage building as it was for while. After getting a good feel for their land and what they thought the customers wanted they decided to change the office into a Delicatessen and so, the Deli was born. Offering customers a small range of cheeses, cured meats and obviously olives. It now offers customers hundreds of unique speciality artisan products from UK and International suppliers.

The Deli

Tim & Jackie enjoyed being able to have a coffee with their customers and decided that developing a coffee shop would be a great way to do this. Also enabling customers to relax whilst at The Olive Grove was a big part of the vision for Tim & Jackie. The Coffee Shop started with a very limited menu offering items such as Tascas and mezes they spent a long time trialling different blends of coffee beans before arriving at their very own special blend of coffee beans, which is the same as what you will find today. It started out with very limited seating of 16 chairs (6 of these were bar stools) but at that time when The Olive Grove was young it worked perfectly. As time went on and further developments were made, Tim & Jackie added and diversified the Nursery adding a jungle, further polytunnels so they could showcase smaller indoor plants and outdoor furniture and just growing the Nursery in general year on year.

Outdoor Furniture

Obviously, Tim & Jackie didn’t stop there and decided to bring in a new element and Home Interiors was born, offering an eclectic range of speciality furniture and artefacts from around the globe. The building where you find Home Interiors was the second building which was already on the land, purely used as a storage building but now far from it! Jackie spent some time developing this department and it is a far cry from the days of a storage building. Visit the Home Interiors page for more information.
